Christina J. Garner (she/they) is a New York Area-based scenic designer originally from Casper, Wyoming. Based on their background in Art History/Anthropology, Christina's design process is frequently centered in extensive research. She thrives in creating collaborative spaces and processes that benefit from rich and varied synergy.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts (Summa Cum Laude) with an emphasis in Design and Technology from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley. Christina is in her final year as an MFA Candidate pursuing Scenic Design at the University of Connecticut under the mentorship of Alexander Woodward.
Selected recent designs include Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers (UConn School of Music), Much Ado About Nothing, the North American premiere of A Hundred Words for Snow (Connecticut Repertory Theatre), as well as assistant and associate credits working with designers such as Gary English, Alexander Woodward, Lex Liang and Britton Mauk.
Before designing full time, Christina worked in development and manufacturing focusing on wearable outdoor gear in the Rocky Mountain region. When she’s not designing, she enjoys reading (she loves a good used book sale!), crocheting/crafting, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
